About Glen

My name is Glen L Johnson.  I am married to a lovely lady, Twanna, with three children.  I currently own a blogging business and a travel business.

My journey into furthering my education came as a result of a childhood dream of earning a Phd.  Graduating from Little Rock Central High School in 1984, going to college was more something that was expected of me than as a serious endeavor even though I wanted one day to be called Dr. Johnson.

After three years of attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, marriage, kids, and loss of desire casued me to drop out of school.  Just like many other I said, “I’m going back to school”.  Fast forward to 2007 I had two kids about to graduate from high school when college  talk began for them.  It dawned on me that if I am telling them to go back to school it would mean more if I actually had my degree!

A good friend of mine called me up one day and asked me if there was anyone that I knew that wanted to go to school to let her know. When I said I wanted to go back initially she thought I was joking, but after a bit more conversation I enrolled at Ashford University in the Spring of 2007.

Let me tell you that running a small business and going to school is tough!  Going to school allowed me to learn more about my company and apply those principles to my growing blog business.  Hours of studying, dozens of papers, quizzes and tests ended in February 2009 with me graduating with straight A’s, making the Deans List every quarter I was enrolled, a 3.9 GPA and most importantly being able to finally call myself a college graduate.

Distance Tips is a collection of the lessons that I have learned during my online education journey.
