Excellent suggestions Glen!

Being on the technical side of Distance Learning your comments seem right on to me. Many people worry if the course management system (CMS) in use at their school will be compatible with their hardware ("but I have got a brand new computer to take this course") or their Operating System ("will it work with my Mac?") but really it is the browser that is the critical component 9 times out of 10. Having 2 browsers installed is a great safety net, and "try another browser" is one of the first troubleshooting tips we provide. However I would also like to suggest that all students check the "preferred" or "certified" list of browsers for their CMS. Each vendor has one. The list for the most recent WebCT version of Blackboard is shown here: http://www.webct.com/tuneup/viewpage?name=tuneup_browsers_vista80_ce80

I hope this information helps!
